Web Tool Free Forever 100% Private

Every year, vehicle owners in Pakistan must pay a token tax to keep their vehicle legally registered and on the road. The Pakistan Vehicle Token Tax Calculator 2026-27 helps you work out exactly what your car, jeep, or SUV costs to keep registered for a year — showing you the provincial token, the early-payment discount (where available), and the federal yearly tax collected at the same counter. With each province setting its own rates — Punjab and Islamabad now charging a percentage of the invoice price, while Sindh, KP, and Balochistan still use fixed engine-size amounts — understanding your annual vehicle tax liability has never been more important. This calculator instantly shows you your total payable, how much you save by being a filer, and breaks down exactly what makes up your bill.

What Is the Vehicle Token Tax Calculator and Who Is It For?

The Vehicle Token Tax Calculator computes the annual token tax you pay to keep your vehicle registered in Pakistan, along with the federal income tax collected alongside it under Section 234. It is built for:

  • Vehicle owners across Pakistan – needing to know their annual token tax for budgeting and compliance.
  • Car buyers – understanding the ongoing cost of vehicle ownership before making a purchase.
  • Filers and non-filers – seeing the difference in the federal portion of the tax.
  • Owners in Punjab and Islamabad – calculating the percentage-based token on vehicle invoice price.
  • Owners in Sindh, KP, and Balochistan – checking fixed engine-size based token amounts.

The tool applies the correct rates for your province, engine size, invoice price, taxpayer status (ATL), and vehicle age, showing you the exact total you need to pay each year.

  • Balochistan waived motor vehicle tax in full on electric vehicles until 30 June 2030.
  • KP has a full exemption for electric four-wheelers until 30 June 2028.
  • Federal tax (Section 234) rates remain unchanged from 2023-24, with non-filers paying double the filer rate.

Step-by-Step Example Calculation (Punjab – 2026-27)

Let's say you are a filer in Punjab with a 1,300 cc car, invoice price Rs. 4,000,000, paying the full year by 31 August.

  • Province: Punjab
  • Engine size: 1,300 cc (falls in the 1,001 – 2,000 cc band).
  • Provincial token rate: 0.3% of invoice price
  • Provincial token: 0.3% × Rs. 4,000,000 = Rs. 12,000
  • Early-payment discount (10%): − Rs. 1,200
  • Token to pay: Rs. 10,800
  • Federal yearly tax (1,300 – 1,499 cc): Rs. 2,500
  • Total to pay: Rs. 10,800 + Rs. 2,500 = Rs. 13,300
  • If you were a non-filer: Federal tax doubles to Rs. 5,000, total = Rs. 15,800
  • What being a filer saves you: Rs. 2,500

Special Cases: Lifetime Token and One-Time Payments

Some provinces offer one-time lifetime token options instead of yearly payments:

  • Punjab & Islamabad: Cars up to 1,000 cc can pay Rs. 20,000 once for the life of the vehicle.
  • Balochistan: Vehicles up to 1,000 cc under 5 years old can pay a lifetime amount (Rs. 10,500 for ≤660 cc, Rs. 12,000 for 661–1,000 cc).
  • Sindh: Cars up to 1,000 cc may pay Rs. 20,000 once if new, or Rs. 15,000 once if between 3–5 years old.

Our calculator shows the yearly figure by default, as choosing the lifetime option is a decision you make at the counter.

This Federal Tax Is Adjustable – Not Final

The federal portion of your token tax (under Section 234) is adjustable against your annual income tax liability. When you file your return, this amount is credited as advance tax paid.

  • If your final tax liability is less than the federal tax you paid, you can claim a refund.
  • If your final tax liability is more, you simply pay the difference.
  • The provincial token itself is NOT adjustable — it is a provincial charge, not income tax.
  • Keep your receipt! You need it to claim the federal portion on your FBR return.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the difference between token tax and the federal tax collected with it?
The token tax is a provincial charge that goes to your province. The federal tax (Section 234) is collected at the same counter but goes to the FBR and is adjustable against your income tax. The provincial token is not adjustable.
Do non-filers pay more on token tax?
Non-filers pay double on the federal portion (Section 234) of the token tax. The provincial token itself is the same for filers and non-filers — the difference is only on the federal tax collected alongside it.
How do I get the 10% early-payment discount in Punjab?
In Punjab, you get a 10% discount on the yearly token if you pay the full year's token tax by 31 August. This applies to vehicles above 1,000 cc that pay the token annually.
Do I pay token tax on a vehicle more than 10 years old?
You still pay the provincial token on vehicles over 10 years old. However, the federal tax (Section 234) is waived entirely for vehicles more than 10 years old from their first registration date.
Is the federal token tax adjustable against my income tax?
Yes. The federal portion collected under Section 234 is adjustable against your annual income tax liability. When you file your return, you can claim this amount as advance tax paid. Keep your receipt!
What is the token tax for electric vehicles in Pakistan?
Punjab: 95% off both registration and yearly tax.
KP: Fully exempt until 30 June 2028.
Balochistan: Fully exempt until 30 June 2030.
Sindh & Islamabad: Check with your local excise department for current EV rates.
Why did Islamabad change its token tax system in 2026?
Under the Finance Act 2026, Islamabad moved from fixed engine-size amounts to a percentage of invoice price system from 1 July 2026. This aligns ICT with Punjab's model — 0.25% for vehicles up to 2,000 cc and 0.35% above 2,000 cc.
Does the calculator cover commercial vehicles?
This calculator is for private motor cars (cars, jeeps, SUVs, vans, pickups). Commercial vehicles like buses, taxis, and goods transport vehicles have different token tax rates under separate schedules.
